Pros

They have lots of bathrooms.

Cons

At Munchkin, we're on a mission to be the most cut-throat baby lifestyle brand in the world. We have turnover higher than your local McDonalds but that doesn’t stop us from scouring the internet for the best and brightest only to crush their spirits with abysmally low PTO accrual, inflexible work policies, and so much more. Is your child home sick from school? Too bad, mom. There’s no working from home on in-office days. Why? Because… rules! You’ll need to take a sick day to care for that little munchkin. Need to come into the office on a WFH day? Great! That will earn you… nothing. Need to take a doctor’s appointment? You better have enough sick time accrued because you’ll need to use it for every appointment. At Munchkin, we make millions of pounds of cheap plastic products but greenwash all of that with marketing about saving animals and roaming elephants. Hey, we package some of those cheap plastic products in cardboard now so we can wax poetic about our sustainability efforts. Go us!

Pros

The working team are great to work with, collaborative, creative and hardworking. They support each other and help make Munchkin bearable to work for.

Cons

Munchkin has got to be one of the worst place to work for. Ironically they are certified as "Great Place to Work" for many years. Words that best describe that place include dictatorship, fear-mongering and high ego. From an outsider perspective, Munchkin looks great on resume, with all the awards they've won throughout the years but it was a nightmare to be on the inside. Decision made are not necessarily best for the business, but best for the ego of Brand Design department lead. Fear lingers in the office, especially for teams that have to work with, or are part of Brand Design Department. With the CBO's needs to have control over everything, it means most team work in fear. The C Level does whatever Brand Design wants (she is untouchable) and Human Resource can't stand up for employees and can't keep things confidential. Munchkin expects loyalty out of employee, but anyone can get fired at any moment. Employees stay silent because speaking up or doing the right thing for the business often makes them a target. Current staff fear termination, while former employees fear legal threats. High turnover and workforce reductions have significantly increased the workload for remaining staff. Coupled with a toxic work environment, this has created an unsustainable situation that continues to drive employees away. For many of us who have left the company, we are glad that Munchkin is behind us.
