Pros

Being around musical instruments and gear. Meeting people in the industry, musicians and artists of all kinds. Decent pay if you walk the walk and know what you’re talking about. It helps to lose your ego and actually help customers.

Cons

Women, many times, are looked down upon by the clientele. A lot of older, male musicians think that women are not capable of knowing gear or how to work on guitars or even play one! My how wrong they are...My how frustrating this can be. Also, those selling gear are sometimes criminals. Stolen gear happens, and the crooks who try to sell this gear to MGR are creepy and are obviously not stand-up citizens. People who are drug addicts many times sell their gear here as well. It’s sad, disheartening and is part of the job. This industry is ripe with this kind of stuff. All in all it’s a glorified pawnshop, only the seller can’t get their stuff back after they sell it. There is not much the company can do to fix these problems, it just goes with the territory. It is good to know what you could be subjected to as well as what you’re getting yourself into.
