Pros
All of the teachers there are wonderful and the kids absolutely adore their lessons. It's really cool that they've got such an expanded retail area with an in-house luthier. Those working in admin get free weekly 30-minute lessons.
Cons
Unfortunately, the management for this business is abysmal. Disorganized, lacking in experience, and not knowledgeable about how to run things along with a desperate need for control of every little thing is done in every department make it really obvious that this place is barely staying afloat and likely will not last much longer. Top it off with an intense aversion to taking any responsibility for mistakes and blunders, and you've got a ticking time bomb. It's sad to see a place that had built such a community over the last 10+ be run into the ground by management that just has no idea what they are doing all while being stubborn and cruel. Other little things: they take around 2/3 of the fees they charge for lessons, which would be understandable if the school and/or teachers were being properly marketed (another area where management is lacking, because they refuse to hire on more people who actually know how to do this), predatory lesson payment structure (students are charged on the 1st of each month for 4 lessons, if school is closed for a holiday, that lesson is forfeited -- no prorated tuition, no makeup lesson, they literally pay for a lesson that they will not get), terrible scheduling/payment software (they use software designed for salons and spas for music lesson scheduling). I could go on, but I feel like this is enough. I would strongly advise against working here in any capacity, teacher or administrator, unless you are new to the job market and absolutely desperate for resume material. The only benefits outside of the free lessons is PTO, which you may only used after you've been there for a whole year.
