Pros
Opportunity to develop leadership through own self-proposed project, many tours to enjoy and people to meet, friendly coworkers, etc. The room to grow depends on how much effort you put into your internship.
Cons
Often worked more independently, but I still had the aid of my mentor every week. The primary con was that I had to find my own housing and transportation to attend the internship in-person.
