Work Environment - work at next and you’ll see the true definition of toxic
Poor Management - management are clueless and really do not care about you, they’re only in it for themselves and don’t even try to hide it
No Incentives - there’s no incentive to work harder or go that extra mile
Lack of Recognition - your hard work will go unnoticed or be brushed aside, lack of recognition from management
Unreasonable expectations - management typically will expect a very highly demanding list of expectations to be completed however, the work will be way above your pay grade, not enough time to do it, and a lack of explanation on how to you’re just expected to get on with it
Lack of Training - Next provide an online platform to watch videos as a form of training, but these videos are rarely useful and rather only teach the basics, you have to learn the hard way what to do when you can’t find a missing parcel for an unpleasant customer
Understaffed - lack of staff being available on the floors especially during January as there’s an incentive for the Store Manager to make a bonus based on how little hours he gives out. But don’t be surprised when they come running back asking for cover
Lipsy - the fancy name given to the department where you process returns for the day, usually highly understaffed or lack of competent staff. You will struggle alone on the busiest of days and will be given little to no support
Unserious - management enjoy taking multiple smoke breaks through the day that somehow last 15-30 minutes, staff wonder off, managers take however long they want on their breaks, and staff generally do not care for the job but rightfully so
Racism - a concerning issue that comes from mainly management, once again, who have been accused of racism several times (my store), with no satisfactory action being taken about it other than “meetings”
Favouritism - you want the manager to bat a blind eye? you want them to let you do what you like? lick their backside and you’ll get to do whatever you want in the store, but don’t expect them to take the fall for you
Pay to Work Ratio - absolutely a joke, especially if you’re looking to progress higher up you can expect a 10-40p wage increase for 6x the responsibilities you already have. There’s a reason why the company is having an equal pay claim
