Pros
Gained a much deeper appreciation of our public healthcare workers (nurses, doctors, allied health workers etc.). The demands of working in healthcare is really high, hence we should all show our respect to healthcare workers. Work that you perform in the system will really impact someone in need down the line, even for those in the corporate functions. Many people (other than the top leadership) are driven by giving the best care for their patients instead of being driven by P&L like the private companies.
Cons
Leadership is messy at the top, with a lot of turnover, old ways of working and toxic relationships. This trickles down to the lower levels, which creates very heavy workload and many times work that has no meaning at all, just for the purpose of preparing the leaders for a meeting. Turnover is exceptionally high, yet no proper replacements are being sought. Instead, work is just spread out to the juniors in the name of more exposure, but really it's just saving cost and driving them to leave. Work from office policy is admirable but not logical for corporate employees. Leaders choose to ignore work from home request instead of rejecting them because they have no reason to reject but fear backlash from their bosses. Eventually even though the work is meaningful, you get so drained out and leave instead. A turnover of around 60 people in a 80 people department in a year is not normal.
