Pros
Friendly working atmosphere within the science teams with a spirit of helping colleagues. Lots of up and coming younger PIs coming through and being given responsibility for proposal writing and starting to make an impact. Recent acquisition by NIAB and staff restructuring has gone as smoothly as can be expected and has generally been a positive experience.
Cons
NIAB EMR heads of department are scientists first, bureaucrats second and people managers last. Younger PIs not always given resources needed and sometimes given menial tasks due to shortage of technical staff. Recent acquisition by NIAB and staff restructuring has created job insecurity for some.
