Pros

-Great work/life balance -Embraces/encourages diversity -Flexibility to change teams -Health benefits are decent (but premiums not always covered) -Enjoyed my manager and team. That extends to most of the staff

Cons

-Org is top-heavy w/ managers and not enough staff underneath to complete tasks efficiently -There is a disconnect between upper-management understanding what staff does. Bc of this, they can’t properly advocate for work or set proper boundaries for what can/cannot be competes to NPR’s station-owner stakeholders -Current re-org going on in which management is in bargaining with the Digital Media United union (made up of NPR staff). This has created an undercurrent of discontent within staff and takes key members away from their work. -Temporary contracts (some lasting 6+ months with little to no job security) and pay inequalities are commonplace

Pros

I was fully remote, learned so much from a great group of peers, the union is strong and active, pay was fair

Cons

The federal funding saga put a damper on morale, but that was pretty outside of the scope of what my team/manager could control.

Pros

tiny desks happen at work

Cons

soulless and corporate, management is all-powerful, benefits are slowly disappearing, few career prospects unless you fit a certain "profile"
