Pros

Flexible hours, hard working staff and decent benefits.

Cons

This place is an internal mess. Not only is there no HR department to handle sensitive issues (i.e. sexual harassment accusations, promotions, demotions and new job assignments) but the partners who "lead" the firm are petty insensitive and cruel. During my time working at NSIP not only were all staff and associates treated like replaceable space holders but associates or supporting staff were let go with no notice every quarter. Any kind of friendships that were formed were unacceptable (i.e. the "partner" who is in charge of hiring and firing would target individuals who formed friendships and fire them one by one.) This mentioned partner would also have staff and associates escorted from the building and left on the curb not allowed access to their belongings after she let them go. Said partner would then also keep tabs on what associates and staff were doing outside of work hours and even on days off to the point where even a texting group was no longer allowed. Favoritism for Korean speaking employees from one of the partners was so blatant that many others were left feeling uncomfortable. (i.e. said partner would give the Korean Employees allowances for them to go out to lunch among themselves. Many other staff witnessed said partner take his wallet out and give the group of Korean speaking employees cash for them to go out.) All in all the partners who are in charge of this firm are unorganized and are only interested in keeping people for no more then 2 years. They shame you for having children, ridicule you for becoming a first time parent, mistreat you for taking any kind of vacation or for any family emergencies that may happen. If you are a single Korean woman with no children looking for experience this is a great stepping stone to move into a more established firm as they prefer to hire supporting staff and associates with little to no experience. Otherwise prepare to be used until they find someone else. Abused by the treatment of "upper management" until they toss you on the literal curb when your shelf life of 1 -2 yrs expires.

NSIP Law Response
7y
On occasion, the firm faces a difficult decision to let go one of its members. Often, the decision comes about due to the incidents, including, but not limited to, negative client feed backs and repeated mistakes in handling important matters for our clients. We try to do our best to provide a fair number of warnings before the decision to terminate the relationship. In the case of the above, what appears to be one of the multiple posts by the same poster, the firm respectfully disagrees and would like to set the records straight. Readers may also refer to the firm’s Response to similar allegations in the below post. The concept of being “used and thrown away” is inconsistent with the business of law. The firm invests great deal of resources, including the paid training and the training provided by the other paid senior employees, to bring someone with little experience to fully competent professional. This may take 1-2 years. To then, “throw away” this trained employee goes against all reason. As the readers can discover from the firm website, we are proud of our diversity. The firm currently has a member out on a second maternity leave, and the position will be waiting when our member returns. Our members are free interact on their own in their own time outside the firm without anyone’s say. Although rarely occurs, an employee let go may be escorted out the door discreetly. This is because the firm handles confidential client information, and we value our employee’s privacy as well as the trust placed by our clients with their confidential information. To keep the post short, we refrain from addressing each-and-every inaccuracies of the above post. The managing partner heads the HR matters for the firm. The firm is actually proud when it comes to promptly addressing HR matters and requests. We are also proud of our family-oriented atmosphere. Those interested in joining our practice are encouraged to apply in confidence in response to our next hiring ads. Sincerely, NSIP Law

Pros

Unlike the below reviews, I believe I have benefited from my time here, so I thought I would post. I came to the firm with a little experience, but the people and management I work with are helpful and generous with respect to their time, and I’ve been given more independence and responsibility as I gain more experience. I’ve learned a lot, and also have gained a better understanding of some of the bigger picture things the attorneys deal with and consider. The benefits seem comparable to other DC firms. I’ve also made friends here, and the partners make efforts to keep things flexible and friendly around the office, which makes doing my job a lot easier and more fulfilling. I actually look forward to each day.

Cons

Honestly, in my experience here, if you are a reasonable and easy to get along person you won’t have any issues or concerns that won’t be considered and addressed by management. So I don’t have any real cons.

Pros

Great work environment with wonderful people to work with! Everyone gets along with everyone. I loved working here.

Cons

You are greatly underpaid, especially to be working/living in the DC-area! There is no HR department, everything goes through senior partner attorney's.
