Pros

- If you have a good and experienced coach, you will be given a lot of support and helpful feedback. - Long training period, more room for growth and experience. - Masters is partially paid for.

Cons

- Not a lot of coaches are that...great. - Very likely, your Teaching Academy will be in the Bronx, or in a borough far from your home. Be prepared to commute. - A lot of my cohort had so-so experiences with their coaches. - We were told before the first day that our stipend would be at least 1,500 a month. We only got a 1000. Be prepared to save and not spend much for five months.

Pros

The program is a pathway to a Master's Degree, healthcare, benefits, pension etc.

Cons

-It is possible to do all of the hard work (creating lessons, certification exams, graduate school) and not find employment. While they provide job fairs to attend, the program is NOT responsible for helping you find a job. You are completely on your own. I've seen this negatively effect many hard working partner teachers, resulting in financial troubles, debt and mental health issues. -You would be extremely lucky to have an AP or principal who is a somewhat decent person. Good luck. -Like many others, this program killed my passion of teaching. I now work in a completely different industry where people are more respectful, helpful and nicer (it is ironic how a place that claims to be so tolerant are filled with some of the meanest and coldest people)
