Pros

Events are fun. Staff is very friendly and managers are very approachable. Small boutique hotels, you get to meet diverse and interesting people. Good benefits Owners of the hotel brand are very on hand, you see them very often. Competitive pay rate

Cons

Sometimes the hours are too long Guests of hotel are the party type and you will see some negative things Revolving door of managers - makes it difficult for long term employees to move up. Every new manager you have to prove yourself too, and then they leave and you have to start all over again. Very little opportunities to move up. No travel opportunities or employee discounts Night Bar staff is out of control, drinking on the job, stealing liquor, taking selfies in the bathroom. No HR on-site and no easy way to get information of the company. No newsletters, etc. It's up to the managers to advise or you go to them for questions and concerns, not always the best way to get information. No work culture or training programs, you are kind of just given a walkthrough by current employees and sent off to the wolves

Pros

This position was wonderful and I enjoyed my coworkers and management team. This position included serving guests dinner, working a breakfast buffet, and catering events such as bridal showers and weddings. An awesome job to build experience in the service industry.

Cons

Occasionally the restaurant staff would work late hours when working events and very early hours when working breakfast (never back to back, management was great at making sure no one was stuck working consecutive shifts).

Pros

Slightly higher pay Good guests

Cons

Management is only interested in saving themselves. Was put in a dangerous situation at work due to a manager, and when myself and other employees and directors complained and filed reports to mgmt/hr, we were either ignored or fired.
