Pros

Many of the clothing designs and prints were pretty. Overall, my coworkers were kind and helpful.

Cons

If you want to make $50,000 a year (before taxes) without being able to ask for a raise after a year, this place is for you. Your boss will buy herself a new Range Rover and then tell you that you can't be paid a living wage. Your boss will expect everything to be done the second she mentions it with a false sense of urgency, causing constant anxiety. You will be doing the job of at least 2 people and will almost always feel understaffed. In my case, you will always be denied your legally required breaks: two 15 minute breaks and a lunch break every day –I was lucky if I got to take part of a lunch break and typically didn't eat all day. If there is a single mistake (almost always related to being overworked and shorthanded), it will be told to you secondhand in a passive aggressive manner. You will be told you're not allowed to speak and laugh with your coworkers depending on your boss' mood that day. If you excel in areas outside and above your job description, those duties will permanently become your responsibilities without an increase in pay or acknowledgment of your hard work. This company intentionally caters to rich, white, thin, elitist customers (a lot of Karens). I repeatedly asked for more diversity in showing how the clothing fit on models with various skin tones and body types and was essentially scoffed at each time. This company also completely ripped off their most well known style: The Fiore and their most well known print: Vintage Flowers from the famous, vintage Indian Kaftan called the Adini with zero recognition of its origins. The garments themselves were not consistent in size, fabric color, or well made and often arrived damaged (and even completely soaked in water one time). Meanwhile, this clothing line is extremely overpriced. I always wondered if the factory they came from was essentially a sweat shop because I know how cheap the owner was. I could keep going, but I think I've shown enough instances of this company being problematic and I would never recommend working here or supporting this company. When I worked here I was constantly stressed, exhausted, burnt out, and run down. I thought this company was going to be amazing when I signed on because it was completely women owned and operated, but now I think that was just another method to exploit women, rather than to empower us.
