Pros
The research being done at NCSA is groundbreaking, and by and large the employees are good people who want to do good work. The work/life balance is mostly good, and the benefits of working for a major university are outstanding.
Cons
The bureaucracy of working for a state-funded institution makes doing HR a tightrope without a net. Even if NCSA has funding, there are oversights upon oversights that get to determine how they think that funding should be spent, so people who don't work at NCSA have too much of a guiding hand in operations.
