Pros

I’ve had an exceptional experience working with this company. From day one, I’ve felt fully supported by my team, who are genuinely invested in helping me grow and succeed. As an apprentice, I’ve gained an impressive amount of knowledge in just over six months. The learning curve has certainly been steep, but the guidance and mentorship from both my colleagues and managers have been invaluable. I’ve been particularly fortunate to work with outstanding managers who have played a crucial role in my development. They’ve consistently dedicated their time and resources to help me progress, and their support has been instrumental in my growth. While my apprenticeship journey is still ongoing, I’m extremely pleased with the progress I’ve made so far. Having changed careers and worked for several other businesses, I can confidently say none have come close to the level of support and opportunity that National Gas provides. A real focus on work life balence. Overall, this is a fantastic company with a positive, supportive culture. I’m excited to continue my journey here and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

Cons

The company has recently undergone a separation from National Grid, which, understandably, has presented some challenges. However, it’s evident that everyone is fully committed to navigating these changes, recognising that it will take time. While various departments are still in the process of maturing, there is a clear and shared focus on achieving efficiency and long-term success, setting the company up for a bright and promising future. On boarding can take some time and lots of training to complete but this is the same as any company, however you are given the time to complete this.

* Limited onboarding and induction within the Commercial & Supply Chain team. * Lack of clarity around roles, responsibilities and expectations. * Insufficient access to systems, processes and project information during the early stages of employment. * Role experienced in practice did not fully align with expectations set during recruitment. * Limited structured support, feedback and development discussions. * Communication and knowledge sharing could be improved. * Career progression pathways were not always clear. * Some projects lacked established commercial processes or clear ownership. * Employee concerns could be addressed more proactively rather than reactively.
