Pros
In my four years so far at National Grid, I have found that they genuinely do care for their employees. The pension and benefits package, paternity/maternity policies and award schemed reflect this point. The company culture breeds a positive environment, supporting and encouraging each other. Collaboration is encouraged, and opportunities for progression or even lateral movement are abundant.
Cons
National Grid naturally suffers from some of the same frustrating nuances that all large companies do. Sometimes the HR processes can be slow, or issues where inter-departmental procedures/decision-making is required can be difficult, but this is certainly nothing that other blue-chip companies I have worked for are guilty of.
