Pros
- Careful balance between freedom and security provides ample room for a creative mind to flourish. - The combination of what we do and the time sensitivity doesn't leave a shortage of challenges. - PTO benefits are outstanding, far surpassing those offered by competitors. - 401k and health benefits are competitive with some of the largest companies in the area. - Company events for holidays and milestones are a lot of fun. - Management is generally relaxed, but is also attentive to issues and is diligent in resolving them. - Many important decisions and plans are made at a company-wide level, incorporating feedback from staff at all levels. - Dress and conduct codes are appropriate, but relaxed. It seems like there's a special appreciation for things outside of the mainstream here. It's almost like they know that eccentricity yields a competitive edge. ;) - Management generally trusts the technical staff's ability to handle technical issues. This shouldn't have to be listed as a pro, but anyone with technical experience that's reading this should know what I'm talking about. - The entire company feels like a family. This can be a lot of fun, and leads to a generally positive atmosphere.
Cons
- As a SysAdmin, long shifts are long. This doesn't bother me much, but I'm putting it here as a warning for people who don't like to work more than 8-10 hours in a day. - This is a smaller company, so room for growth is directly proportional to the growth of the company. This is a pro for someone who wants to spearhead the growth rather than riding on it, but I stuck it in the "Cons" list because leaders seem to be less common than followers. - There's so much PTO floating around that it can be difficult to schedule PTO without crossing someone else's PTO. WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE PTO HOURS? [limesguy.jpg] - The coffee could be better.
