Pros
Nationwide wring their hands over their hiring process with obvious results. Management are friendly, considerate and approachable, even at higher levels. There is very little clique-forming and cross-departmental cooperation was always easy and encouraged.
Cons
There's a tendency for the business to take itself a little too seriously, while not actually fulfilling the goals it sets for its own employees. For example, I've seen unbelievable wastage at my time with the Society. Both of time and literally of money. At the same time, they emphasise that every customer (or, "member") is a stakeholder and that we need to spend our members' money conservatively. I've been encouraged to increase compensation beyond what would normally be considered reasonable, just to avoid a FOS referral fee. Kind of a 'leave your ethics at the door' situation.
