Pros

- Pay good salary - Pay decent stock options (but no value in secondary markets)

Cons

- Navan has a culture of immediate layoffs, one day you will be working deeping with someone for years, and next day you won't find them on Slack. Later you get to know they were laid off, along with 20 others - no announcement, no respect to the work they did for years. - The founder is probably sick of running this company now and has been waiting for 4-5 years now to go public (IPO), but unable to do so due to covid, wars, recession etc. So every few months, he will ask his direct reports to decrease costs further and then they layoff more in waves, no matter the performance or how important your work is. - There are a few people in his inner circle, who do not add much value but continue to be saved in every layoff (like COO). These people hold high ranks and probably hefty stock options, and their only work is to change company strategy every 2 years and then lay off more people. - The travel product is a disaster internally, and the only thing keeping them alive is the Expense product, and thus jobs in that team are safe. Only join if you are being offered a job in Navan's Expense team. - Stock options are useless as well as they offer NSO, which you first have to purchase from the company and 90% people don't have the money after they fire them, thus most loose it and it goes back to ESOP pool. The company is no employee friendly and only offers 90-days exercise period after they fire you - they do not increase this exercise period. So only join if you can negotiate getting RSUs. - Founder is now forcing every employee to come to office 4 days a week. - Lastly, stock options have no value in secondary market and companies like Secfi and EquityBee do not support with exercising options - do your research to get info as I cannot share here

Pros

Fast paced, plenty of room and opportunity to grow. Very good starting pay and ability to earn bonuses. Many remote work options. Strong culture and supportive leadership, with fun company events (like the Christmas party) that help people feel connected, even for the many remote employees.

Cons

The pre‑hire assessment is very strict and pass/fail. I’ve referred strong, experienced candidates who I know are good workers, but they did not pass the test and were not given the opportunity to move forward. It feels like the process may screen out some high‑potential talent who could otherwise thrive here.
