Pros

- A laid back social atmosphere - Since the team is smaller, it's easier to interact with everyone. - Health/Dental Benefits - Met some legitimately awesome people that helped make the workdays easier in a mental sense

Cons

- Typically, talented people that want to make the company/game better are forced out of the company (Be it through being ignored, constantly told it requires too much work, or false promises to improve but ultimately don’t), due to management refusing to make changes and greatly dislike being told hard but honest truths. - There are some people in the company who cannot stand hearing a critical opinion of something they like and will frequently report you to HR if they hear it. - Management is extremely resistant to making necessary changes to improve workflow, if it means they won't see an immediate monetary return - Egos are extremely apparent. You might not notice it for the first year or so, but you will after a while - People unqualified for the role they are given, tend to be given roles better suited to other coworkers, because the higher ups just like them. - Some departments are treated like workhorses and expected to go above and beyond their pay grades to make up for management's inability to plan a sprint - Management frequently makes last-second requests and changes to the release, usually on the day when the sprint is supposed to be finalized and submitted - Ideas are frequently taken by Design and claimed it was their idea - If someone in the company feels slighted by you, they will make it their mission to impede your ability to work (Refusing to communicate, people are too sensitive when legitimate criticism is given) - QA departments are expected to make up for every other department being constantly behind in their own work. - Many times, there are knee-jerk changes made if "targets" aren't being met.... which is often - Company is using outdated tools and drags their feet in upgrading (Usually says they are working on it, then never mentions it again) - Suspicious that the recent reviews were all published the same day AND seem to be in response to a critical review
