Pros

Fantastic co-workers & upper management. Pay and benefits are good. Monthly & yearly employee events. Ability to experience different positions/departments if you choose. There is a lot to learn if you choose to do so.

Cons

The building it's self could use a major overhaul. Parking is not great - an active railroad runs between the parking area and the building, preventing you from getting to your vehicle whenever a train is present. Also, it is difficult to find a parking spot that is not less than a 5 minute walk. Employees working in the corporate office are expected to dress business casual even though they work in a very old building, walk across a shipping yard, and rarely see any outside customers.

Pros

The pay is higher than the industry standard to attract employees, much like a siren's song that lures people to their doom.

Cons

Nepotism can be highly detrimental, as individuals who assume leadership roles without proper education, relevant experience, or proven success are often unqualified to manage an organization effectively. The ability to throw tantrums and create distractions is not a talent but a recipe for disaster. Ownership is often severely blinded by long-term associates who have been with them for decades, unquestioningly bowing to their every word. Upper and middle management often deflect responsibility by blaming their subordinates for systemic and systematic failures. They make statements that employees are expected to know, but these are not documented in any formal procedures. Subsequently, those employees are pushed out or fired to protect management’s position. This revolving door of turnover is detrimental to the long-term health of the organization. I suspect this organization will eventually collapse due to the gross lack of leadership and outdated style of thinking, or it will be bought out. Either way, the future is not bright and should be avoided.
