Pros

Flexibility for workers with children (sometimes)

Cons

Poor pay, too much work, terrible HR team, threatening employees, sexism, racism, awful president and executive team, nepotism, etc. Basically, if you can find a poor quality in a company, you’ll find it at Nelson. They think giving raises that BARELY account for the rise in inflation are “massive”, so most of the time a “merit raise” is 50 cents to 1 dollar in a year. No cost of living increase ever. The president (Joe Shrawder, no longer Jeff Nelson) is a jerk who doesn’t actually believe in the science he is supposed to oversee (anti-masker and anti-vaxxer) and doesn’t listen to any sense from people who actually know the biology. HR is only interested in protecting the company and makes you feel like crap for even ever talking to them. They threaten their employees to take on extra work with no additional pay, work different shifts than they were hired for, etc. or else they’ll be fired. Any attempts to negotiate a raise or a promotion will be met with being told you are replaceable and to stop asking. All of this from personal experience. Nobody who is actually any good stays here for very long which just perpetuates all the terrible qualities of the company.

Pros

*Team builds if they schedule them *Ice cream twice a week *Lab experience *Coworkers

Cons

*Micromanagement *Hard to move up *They don't care about their employees like they used to. They're opening up a new clean room and I highly advise to anyone that's going to apply to avoid sterility assurance as much as possible. High turnover rate and you usually can't take a break until after your shift which you can be in the clean room for 8-12 hours. Lots of mandatory overtime and it's exhausting. Mostly standing in one place and need to be very aseptic or else you will ruin the test. There's also cameras everywhere watching you. It's easy to burnout in this department. Even if you try leaving you'll never truly get out of it.
