Pros

Everyone is friendly and amicable. Company will help employees when medical or family emergencies arise.

Cons

Upper management is completely out of touch with the employees on the ground. Concerns go in one ear, out the other. Once you've established yourself, and have a track record of success, there is still nowhere to go. They base everything on certification, and even if you've established solid performance, and provided a solid revenue stream for the company, they'll do everything in their power to obstruct you getting a raise, if you don't jump through their certification hoops. Even if you've PROVEN you are doing your4 job effectively and making the company money. Totally feels like they really don't care about you as an individual, but rather, how many certs you have, so they can charge higher fees to their customers. Repeated attempts to get a performance review went unanswered or were dismissed for one excuse or another. Worked there 4 years, provided a SOLID revenue stream for the company, yet only got ONE .50cent/hr raise in 4 years.... very disheartening when you give your all, yet they give little or nothing back.....I left the company feeling like I had wasted 4 years of my life....

Pros

There are a few benefits worth noting. Scheduling offers some flexibility, holiday pay and double time are provided, and NTS Certificate reimbursement is available for those pursuing industry certifications.

Cons

For all that this organization offers on paper, the day to day reality tells a different story. At the heart of the issue is compensation. Pay falls below the market rate of virtually every comparable NOC in the greater Richmond, Virginia area, and raises whether annual or over the span of an entire career are not something employees can reasonably expect. Hard-earned certifications, some of which require significant time and effort to obtain, are rewarded with a mere fifty-cent pay increase, and the evaluation process following submission can stretch upward of a month. As one can imagine, this creates an environment where dedication and technical growth go largely unrewarded. Compounding the compensation issue is a performance culture that measures success by call volume rather than the quality and complexity of the ticket work that actually keeps operations running. Cross-departmental collaboration is nonexistent, limiting any opportunity to grow beyond a narrow skill set. Communication within the NOC is consistently poor, and management's treatment of lower-level employees reflects a broader lack of respect for the people doing the core work of the organization.
