Operations - Operations New Deal Design Employee Review

Pros

All of the employees are great people. No drama you might see at other places. Fun events with the entire team. Good work life balance for ops team.

Cons

For ID/XD expect late nights but you'll learn a lot in a short time. For Ops there is no career trajectory for this role within the company. All ops leaves within 1.5-3 years. Management is not skilled at managing people or rewarding team members. High turnover due to poor management. The boss can be temperamental and will make it known when he's upset. It can be a hostile environment for people who are not trained at managing tough situations. Even if you have great ideas they may never come to fruition since the president of the company makes mostly all final decisions on changes. Note: Heavily focused on finance/billing over anything else. Then office management, followed by managing the CEO, followed by events.

Pros

A tightly-knit talented group of designers that are all giving 110%, I can't think of a better place to cut your teeth in the design industry. The way it's structured it's easy for anybody to contribute to a project, concept, or strategy, regardless of their position or seniority.

Cons

Project timelines can be tight which constrains the amount of work you can put into a project, but on the plus side this means every month or two you've got a whole new design challenge to work through.

Pros

The current team of designers and engineers are something I haven't seen in my decade of working in design. It's something special that I appreciate so much that I had to write a review. Magic has happened over the last year to bring this team together, and I am so happy to get to be a part of it.

Cons

The agency design world is fast and tough, and as hard as we all work to not get crushed at the end of every project we still end up putting in the long grueling hours.
