Pros

The students are what made the school such a wonderful place to work.

Cons

My experience with New Way Academy has been disappointing, particularly with the direction of the new administration over the last three years. They are really running the school into the ground unfortunately. What are their roles exactly? Over time, I have watched several long-term, experienced teachers leave, and it does not appear that retaining seasoned educators is a priority. The turnover has impacted consistency and classroom stability, which is concerning for families investing in their children’s education. I would encourage parents to take a close look at who is currently teaching in the classrooms. In some cases, staff members who were originally hired for aftercare roles have transitioned into lead teaching positions when mid-year vacancies occurred. While many of these individuals may be caring and well-intentioned, some do not appear to have formal teaching degrees or the level of training one would expect at a school with this tuition level. For the cost of attendance, families deserve transparency about teacher qualifications and a strong commitment to retaining experienced educators.

Pros

Inclusive Environment: Students are treated as individuals rather than 'problem' cases, creating a safe and supportive learning atmosphere. Whole-Child Focus: Teachers are dedicated to seeing beyond test scores and behaviors to support the student's entire well-being. Exceptional Accommodations: The school offers much more flexibility and support for diverse learning needs than traditional public or private schools.

Cons

Lack of Integrity & Transparency: Administration prioritizes "painting a picture" for families over actual follow-through. There is a significant lack of transparency regarding curriculum fidelity and evidence of student growth. Curriculum Deficiencies: There is no cohesive math curriculum in use, leading to a total lack of vertical alignment across grade levels. Misleading Value: Despite high tuition and claims of specialized "amplifications," there is little proof of these services being delivered with consistency or quality. Misplaced Priorities: While Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a high priority, it is often used as a smokescreen to mask academic failures and the lack of qualified teaching staff. Retaliatory Culture: When leadership fails, they are quick to shift blame onto teachers, often resulting in demotions or forcing staff out. Advocacy Required: Families should be wary of administrative "word-smithing" and must maintain documented proof and high levels of advocacy to ensure needs are met.
