Pros
Wonderful and intelligent coworkers. Great intellectual culture. From what I have heard since, I was paid better than many other entry-level staff, probably because my position was grant-funded. Enjoyed taking advantage of fringe benefits by attending lectures, seminars, and public events. The building is beautiful.
Cons
Workspace was a windowless cubicle. Facilities were a bit run-down. The work was too repetitive for me, although others seemingly enjoyed it-- 8 hours a day doing the same thing over and over again at a desk is difficult to sustain. Had I decided to attend library school as many do, I likely would have received superficial institutional support, but zero financial support (this is something I understand the library used to provide but no longer does). As an aside, the HR director (yes, you read that right) made creepy/inappropriate comments to me and others. I believe he has since left or been let go.
