Senior management were dysfunctional, constantly fighting for power and pandering to the board. Worse was that if any issue was raised the person who raised it could expect to be professionally attacked and undermined. To be successful you would need to be autocratic and politically Machiavellian, forget any need for professionalism. The company is well known to be backward regards processes and systems. A very un-enjoyable place to work.
