Pros

Most people are very nice

Cons

Managers, directors and executives have big egos, and don't work well with others. Executives preach "One Newmont", but separate themselves from average employees. Pay is behind industry standards for lower level employees. Work environment is very fast paced, stressful, and unfocused, yet it takes months for directors and executives to make decisions. Good employees leaving in droves due to poor management and unreasonable work load after recent layoffs, which just gets worse as more employees leave for better positions. No one is allowed to say no, and employees will go from one person to the next until they get what they want. No advancement opportunities for employees below manager level. Benefits package gets worse every year, with health insurance costs and deductibles rising more than 5 times this year alone. Its all about who you know, not what you know at Newmont. Too many directors with too little work to do, most just move information from their employees to the executives, and micromanage their employees to death. Elitist and entitled culture where executives rule like spoiled children.

Cons

Newmont has gone through 5 layoffs in 5 years. The most recent is currently ongoing with an estimated 3000 people globally being let go. The last layoff ended in April and employees were told that it would be the last one for awhile. This layoff was announced in August, so 4 months is all they went without starting another one. The employees don't trust the company anymore because of the repeated lies about layoffs. Newmont says they aren't making money with gold at record highs yet they are building all new offices in Australia and Costa Rica that are state of the art. If you have the choice go somewhere else. The other big issue is that no one in management takes harassment or retaliation seriously. Even when it's a Senior Manager harassing their employees (me). I went to HR and the managers boss, everyone swept it under the rug. The manager then retaliated against me for going to HR, I brought that up to HR and was told "no he is allowed to say what he wants and pull you from any task for any reason".
