Pros
pension
benefits
vacation time and MO time
working for a well respected organization that does a lot of good
Cons
1. administratively, sales is a very inefficient dept. they dont have adequate software to do the job - they have very disconnected systems and some of which are ancient and totally antiquated. Additional admin salaries are needed just to keep up with paperwork, manual reports and re-entering and updating the same information over and over and over again. A manager has to send out several emails out and chase other managers down for the information to write a simple proposal. they dont have any event management software.
2. does not feel like a typical sales position because there is zero incentive for reaching targets. You can overachieve your sales target and there is no acknowledgement. No commission, no bonuses, not even a share of the gratuity you bring in. I more than doubled revenue in my market while I was there and not even a pay raise (although my DOS made a significant pay raise as seen on the sunshine list so she probably took the credit for it)
For a motivated sales person it gets very boring over time, and kills your drive. Cost of living increases werent even keeping up with the cost of living so even as an overachiever, the longer I stayed the less I made.
