Pros

To preface this statement, Nightfall requires individuals to periodically review the company on Glassdoor. These reviews are approved and tracked internally. Batched positive reviews are a result of this initiative. I myself have posted a 5 star review that I was required to share. Bear this in mind as you peruse.

Cons

Product Perspective: A product that might’ve been innovative at the company’s inception is now losing to newer, more complete takes on DLP despite Nightfall’s 5 year head-start. One could attribute lackluster numbers in part to a bad economy, but time will reveal that funding received in 2022 is little more than a facade for a failing organization selling a product customers simply don’t need. Employee Perspective: Nightfall's Co-Founders have crafted an organization devoid of benefits of a smaller company yet plagued by disadvantages of a larger company. The result is a slow-moving org drowning in ambiguity, a general lack of processes, thinly stretched teams, and no discernible product/market fit or company culture. There’s startup growing pains, and then there’s Nightfall . The lack of company culture is particularly noteworthy because Nightfall has a knack for hiring intelligent, experienced, hard-working individuals. During their time at Nightfall, however, employees are overworked, demeaned, and micromanaged (under the guise of “flat management”). Industry veterans with years of experience and new college grads alike find success at Nightfall exclusively upon yielding, entirely and incessantly, to the whims of the CEO. Dissenting opinions may be voiced, but those who express them often find their time at Nightfall cut short. In little over a year, the company has fired 6 AEs, 2 Directors, 2 C-Level Execs, 2 SDRs, and churned an entire marketing team twice. All members of the executive team are responsible, either directly or through complacency, for perpetuating this cycle of re-hire/fire. It’s hardly shocking that individuals lacking solidified processes, general autonomy, and paths to success will fall short of unrealistic, unrecorded expectations.

Pros

I’m someone who enjoys startup environments, so this has been a great fit for me. There is a lot of autonomy, ownership, and opportunity to make an impact. I get to work closely with people across the company, and everyone has been welcoming and open to collaboration. The culture feels healthy, and I genuinely feel heard and valued.

Cons

This type of environment isn’t for everyone. You have to be comfortable with accountability, figuring things out, and staying motivated without a lot of direction. As with many growing startups, not every process or playbook exists yet, so there are times when you need to build the structure yourself.

Pros

Product is good, but not evolving fast enough to compete with market. I genuinely struggle to understand how this company maintains a 3.8-star rating. The majority of positive reviews are anonymous and tend to appear immediately after candid negative feedback, which strongly suggests review manipulation. Prospective candidates should be aware that the role is likely to be a significant disappointment.

Cons

The company suffers from a fundamental absence of effective leadership, compounded by a pervasive boys’ club culture that consistently marginalizes and disrespects women. Ask during your interview how many women they have in leadership roles, it’s zero! The entire C-suite lacks prior leadership experience, which is evident in their limited understanding of how to run and scale an effective organization. The sales function is equally dysfunctional: top-performing Account Executives have departed, remaining reps are not held accountable, and sales targets are routinely missed without consequence. This environment has fostered a culture of fear that discourages transparency, feedback, and constructive disagreement. There is little to no accountability for managers or executives who treat staff disrespectfully, and the organization operates without defined processes—decisions are reactive, improvised, and frequently repeated due to a lack of structure. Layoffs and quiet firing happen frequently with absolutely zero transparency, your co-workers will just stop showing up on slack and they won’t mention anything about it.
