Friendly colleagues in the immediate team. Within the same team, people are willing to work together. Stable company. Good for Japanese staff.
Cons
Lack of cooperation between various department, company and region. People are reluctant to solve new and difficult problems across different department or try new processes. Makes transformational type of jobs extremely difficult. Finance department is very reluctant to do traditional roles normally done in other companies.. Company need proper finance staff that know willing and competent staff who know how to answer auditors / do proper transfer pricing / invoicing. People seem to allocate or ask people to work based on who they know.. rather than the correct department who should do the work. Poor organisation of functions within the same company. GMs who scold staff very rudely on email especially when your GM is not inside. Very shocking since typical image of Japanese people is respectful.
