A company built with smoke, mirrors, and a bunch of windows registry hacks - Anonymous employee North Plains Systems Employee Review

Pros

Some genuinely nice people, who methodically have the brightness and curiosity beaten out of them the longer they stay, until only a dull (but compliant) zombie-like husk remains

Cons

Toxic corporate culture. Constant firefighting. Poor sharing of information.

Pros

The people I worked with are very smart and dedicated to their jobs. Benefits are great as is work/life balance

Cons

Unfortunately, damage was done by previous management. Hoping that the company can weather those with a clear and realistic roadmap and come out of it stronger. Good luck

Pros

Employees receive paychecks on a regular basis. It's entirely possible to go through a work day without doing any work, which some people will count as a benefit. I've heard there are snacks in the fridge.

Cons

Everything of value in this company -- its valuable systems, products, and staff -- was burned to the ground by the private equity firm Accel-KKR. The products are in the DAM market, which is new enough and complex enough that it is hard to tell fact from fiction, real worth from hype. In short, it's a good place for a scam -- and that's exactly what Accel-KKR intends to pull off, by selling the whole lot to some bigger company, ASAP. There is just one hitch: all three products are very intricate and require intensive attention to work as advertised. They *can* work and have in the past, but only with carefully constructed procedures and systems and oversight -- all of which have been destroyed. North Plains does have a plan, of course: hope nobody notices before they find a buyer. Who has been running this joint? Think of the people who colonized Africa and South America and Asia at the point of a gun. They burned down the villages, took all the gold, outlawed the local languages -- and then said they had done it all for the good of the natives. That's the kind of hypocrisy, cynicism, and delusion at play here.
