Worth it financially but not mentally - Business Development Representative (BDR) North State Consulting Employee Review

Pros

Base pay, sales and cold calling experience, gathering new skills

Cons

Leadership/management/CEO, favoritism, mental drainage, hints of racism, cult-like enviroment. It's literally a popularity contest and you will never move up unless you make friends with them. Some accounts are easier than others and bless your heart if you are on a tough account because you will be looked down upon if not booking the meetings they THINK you should be booking. They act nice in the beginning and so supportive but managers and other staff (CEO and HR too) like to gossip and act like this is high school. You won't be moving up at all if you aren't just like them, God forbid you have your own personality. They tell you everything you want to hear and sell you an unattainable dream. Some of the leadership likes to push their religion on others, work is not a place for that. I noticed that just about every African American employee (with the exception of 2 people) that was hired throughout my duration there be terminated for one reason or another while allowing others who actually did stuff wrong stay. YOURE OUTSIDE LIFE MATTERS TO THEM AND THEY WILL DISCUSS IT AND USE IT AGAINST YOU.

Pros

Commission, Strong Leadership, Team Orientented

Cons

It's sales, it could be great one quarter but then slow on the other so you have to be prepared and set your self efficiently.

Pros

BDRs are like family and good hours. Good opportunities to get hired on to companies.

Cons

Lower pay than most sales jobs , Toxic upper management can be tricky, and inconsistent call scripts , training , unclear goals. There were BDRs that were never given goals for the month who ansked repeatedly and then end of month came and they were told they didn’t hit goal …. And lastly they talk about opportunities for growth ( hard to come by ) but that doesn’t mean more pay . Popularity gets you places not true drive and hardworking. They also use your personal life against you trying to push you out of your job . Hinting that you can’t possibly manage personal and work life even when you hit goals. super werid and controlling energy that you feel as if someone is stand above you and overwhelming since of anxiety
