Pros

Ground level staff were great to work with and genuinely cared about the wellbeing and experience of the students. The overall day to day of working with the students was often pleasant.

Cons

Insensitive management by poorly trained managers lead to a toxic culture. Staff were invited into a mental health 'safe space' and then not treated with the appropriate care they required. Inappropriate management training was provided for those who needed it. Education standards slowly slipped as 'box-ticking' became preferable to good teaching. Internal practices flagged as inappropriate or unfair were ignored by senior managers. The redundancy process was handled very poorly and extremely insensitively with staff members of more than 5 years not even seen off in person.

Pros

Really friendly and supportive staff. Covers a lot in 13 weeks - tech stack is relevant and useful for an entry-level job in tech.

Cons

Some of the processes could benefit from review. In particular, the full-day exams held each month created significant pressure, especially as not passing could result in being asked to leave the program. Additionally, although the cohort included people new to tech, it often felt as though the majority had substantial prior experience. This disparity should be acknowledged and considered when designing assessments and pacing, to ensure the program remains accessible and supportive for those starting from scratch.
