Pros

Teamwork, medication scanning to help prevent medication errors, rewards for excellent work and connections with patients, helpful charge nurses (night shift), admissions nurses

Cons

Often significantly understaffed (nurses often have six very heavy patients; leadership often asks nurses to work additional time/shifts to attempt to make up for short staffing), heavy patient load

Pros

-some of the nurses on the floor were nice -gets your foot in the door with a hospital as a student -supportive management on the floor i was hired on

Cons

-low pay for what you put up with -was mainly working as a patient care tech as opposed to a nurse extern -nurses on the med/surg floors weren’t very nice and willing to help -don’t feel like i got enough training -the pre shift anxiety was horrendous
