Cliquey and very obvious favoritism. Staff in positions of seniority/promoted undeservedly because they are favored by the MD. Incredibly isolating for newer staff who aren't chummy with those who've been there for years and years/since the beginning. The systems and workflows are completely illogical, there is barely any organisation and most days are taken up attending pointless meetings and duplicating work. They seem to still have the mentality of a small company that's just starting out and hasn't managed to get organised yet, using their 'fast growth' as an excuse for not having systems in place to accommodate the enormous workload they put on their staff . There is barely any training and harsh criticisms when mistakes are made, making staff lack confidence and motivation. They record staff without their consent (the cameras are visible if you look for them, but there is no sign to inform staff there is cctv, and they are never made aware by management). Poor pay, no career opportunities. Pay is also very inconsistent between people at a similar level. Physically uncomfortable/stifling; office is overflowing and cannot accommodate the amount of staff, means people have to desk share. Appalling lack of diversity (even for Publishing!) Highly doubt any of the managers have had proper management training, particularly when it comes to issues of staff illness as they have absolutely zero compassion and feel they have a right to ask invasive questions about health (at least the company name is fitting). They also don't seem willing to address the high staff turnover and that it might have something to do with them... Communication with the outsourced HR company is tricky, which contributes to the feeling of isolation and not being cared for as an employee.
