Cons

Productivity targets are rigid and do not take individual circumstances into account Mental health support is surface-level and largely conversational rather than practical Performance monitoring and comparisons are demoralising rather than supportive Adjustments discussed are not implemented. Performance management relies heavily on constant monitoring and comparison with high-performing peers Missing targets by minimal margins (1–2%) is treated as underperformance regardless of effort or workload Coaching focuses on figures rather than removing barriers to performance Returning after illness, trauma, or personal crisis feels punitive rather than supportive. Underpaid over worked.

Pros

Novuna is a great place to work for a lot of reasons. If you’ve got the motivation to learn new skills and are willing to put the effort in, there’s definitely a clear path to progress your career. Everyone learns at their own pace, which is really respected here. Projects can be demanding at times, but there’s a strong support network in place. You can openly say “I’m not sure” and get the help you need without feeling judged, no matter how many questions you ask. It’s a large company with multiple business areas, so if you’re interested in exploring something new, you can have open and honest conversations with your line manager about moving into different parts of the business. There’s also a lot of training available, both in terms of time and materials. You might not get through everything during your working day, but depending on your development plan, you can use that as a springboard to keep learning in your own time (although that might not suit everyone). One thing I really value is how easy it is to communicate with people at all levels of the business. It creates a genuinely open and honest working environment.
