Pros

- Nutrien truly practices what they preach in terms of how safety is their #1 priority. Nutrien starts most meetings with a safety moment (3-5 min) to discuss safety tips. Working in an office is one of the less dangerous jobs out there so I found the tips about wearing sunscreen outdoors, not walking too fast around corners in the office, and driving safely through construction zones were a little silly and patronizing. However, after working at the company for a year now, and better understanding the potential risks and dangers of our farmers working with large machinery it has become clear to me why we practice safety from a company wide perspective. I've come to appreciate management's decision to implement a culture of safety at every level of the company. I have the impression that I am valued and cared for at this company. - Benefits and pay that Nutrien offers has been competitive, if not better than other companies I've worked for. I've also had opportunities for education reimbursement which wasn't available at my last company. - I've had great access to be able to communicate and interact with higher levels of management. - The company as a whole seems to be on the same page and moving in the same direction.

Cons

- In my opinion Nutrien has a culture of working to excess. I've been told by direct superiors that some weeks we are expected to work 45 hours per week. I am a salaried employee and I am usually fine with a few extra hours in a week as long as I can work 35 hours the next week to compensate for the extra hours worked in an earlier week. However, there have been times of multiple 45 hour weeks without a additional compensation or a reduction of hours in future weeks. Additionally, it is apparent that my boss works 45-50+ hours EVERY week and that demotivates me from wanting to progress in my career at this company. - Employees with 0-5 years of tenure only receive 2 weeks of vacation and that is simply not enough.
