Pros

Remote / Hybrid Opportunities Small US Team 3 weeks PTO / 2 weeks Sick / 9 Paid Holidays

Cons

The worst part should be the disrespect, lack of ownership and accountability, numerous payroll errors, reduction in benefits, and several years with NO pay increases for the below-market wages. But the lies, false promises, and constant addition of responsibilities and having to help everyone else do their jobs due to the lack of training and ownership by leadership. The UK was run poorly so it was no surprise the US would have its growing pains -- however we advocated correction of multiple significant issues for YEARS to watch them ignore us and just hire new six figure executives that continued to pass their work along onto us was exhausting. They did not pay us correctly many times, including the last day when they mass-fired us all and said to stop working. They didn't provide a final paycheck, just a wire-transfer of a random (incorrect) and less than owed amount to which we were each charged back fees for. What a disgusting joke and a waste of time. I was actually relieved for their reign of ignorance to come to end. I feel terrible for the masses of customers that spent significant money on the trust of doing business with us that fully intended to see their orders fulfilled while unaware of what was instore for ourselves. They gaslit us the entire time telling us that our jobs were not in danger. My manager even encouraged me not to accept a better position with false promises of promotions. HR did nothing about it for almost a year, too. I hate to say I would love to watch it burn, but I would.

We are incredibly grateful to our employees who supported us throughout our journey into the US market and are sorry that despite all of our hard work, due to the market environment and tough trading conditions, we ultimately had to file for Chapter 7 in the United States. Moving forward a court-appointed trustee will be responsible for handling all questions, but we would like to thank you for your hard work and dedication to our business.

Pros

The best part about working for OKA were the benefits. They offer three weeks vacation time and 2 weeks sick time. The team I worked with were really nice.

Cons

There are too many to list. OKA of Westport doesn't really value their employees but you don't really see that until you work for them. The job comes with constant stress and OKA of Westport is SEVERELY understaffed. I applied to be a stockroom manager but it was really a stockroom lead position. They started off with dishonesty. I had no employees working under me. I had to receive massive shipments in the morning by myself and wasn't allowed to come in early enough to complete my tasks. I was hired to make the store prosper but instead, I felt like I wasn't allowed to do my job. Save yourself the stress and find somewhere else to work.
