Pros

There are two main pros for working at One Drop - the mission and people. The mission is consistently what brings great, talented people to One Drop and the reason they stay. They are able to work on projects that are meaningful with people who are committed to the cause. They have an excellent benefits program.

Cons

One Drop is the foundation of the Cirque du Soleil. It is a terrible place to work. A few reasons why: Misaligned Values/Lack of Team Work/Collaborative Culture Leadership cares more the glitz and glamour associated with the Cirque than the actual mission and cause of water for all. Even though they have good people working there, people are in it for themselves, do not care much for helping others or being team oriented. This means that they are consistently misaligned with their publicly stated values. They say one thing in staff meetings and team meetings but do another. High Turnover Due to the culture and leadership of the organization, they have had extremely high turnover. Often people who have been there only 6-8 months have left very quickly. Barely any employees are left in the marketing and communications teams and revenue generation teams (Events team, finance and programs are the only ones with employees). This is unusual for an organization with such a great mission combined with good compensation and benefits relative to other organizations in the non-profit sector. People do not stay when they are teated so poorly on a day to day basis. No Transparency The organization is also not transparent at all. They refuse to tell employees what the salary scale is so you never know if you are being paid the same or less than someone else who works at the same level or previously held your job. They have clear favourite employees who have the ear of the leadership. This means they are able to get away with behaviour that HR would not allow for anyone else to get away with. They make judgements and you always feel like you're being watched - the time you come in to the office, how much time you take for lunch, if you're smiling enough..it never ends! Concentration of Power Certain people in leadership positions have extreme power. They were able to get good opportunities and negotiate excellent salaries for themselves because of their level of power. They tend to not give those exciting opportunities for projects or travel to the people who work under them ( such as managers and coordinators). They are able to get away with behaviour that no one else would get away with.
