Pros
There are some incredibly amazing and genuine people working here, and the leaders who lead without an official leadership title keep the workforce motivated and alive. Provalus is the heart of the company. It is sad because there is so much potential here and so many good people. If leadership at the highest level would take action and make big changes to better manage their human resources (producers), this could easily be a great company to work for. Unfortunately, they've been stuck in this stagnant culture of toxicity for years.
Cons
It all comes down to management and culture. Managers are not being trained in how to lead, and consequently, there are some very harmful and nonproductive leadership practices, including name-calling, personal attacks on producers' character, and favoritism toward under-producers. Also in consequence of poor leadership and management comes the extremely toxic culture. Some of the senior producers and managers are flat-out mean people; they allow and at times even encourage the ostracization of team members. There is healthy competition and unhealthy competition; when you pit teammates against each other with the threat of being fired, this is unproductive and unhealthy for culture, plain and simple. You create a culture based on fear, hinder collaboration, and lead to burnout doing this. This company is a revolving door of freshly graduated college students being taken advantage of and underpaid. In the two years I worked at Optomi, I received commission on time three times total, and I had to manually track my own commission to correct the incorrect commissions 2/3 times.
