Pros

Some great colleagues and lovely staff, all treated appallingly unfortunately.

Cons

Paid a low salary and expected to work overtime for no extra pay (on the promise that you can earn commission). Often working 8.30am - 7.00pm for £16,000 - £18,000 pa and being pressured into doing so. No real training, given a phone and computer given to you on day two and then told to make cold calls to the other side of the Country. You never get to meet candidates or clients so how can you recruit properly and understand peoples requirements? You are told at interview there are no KPI's and that you are given 6 Months to get your desk up and running. This is a lie and your call stats and every aspect of your desk are scrutinised and you are expended to make money in Months 2 or 3. The Management are constantly whispering in the corner which makes everyone paranoid and there is a constant revolving door of people leaving, almost on a weekly basis. From what I can gather the Management used to be Consultants themselves and often had long spells without billing and have no previous experience in running teams or running a business - its literally the blind leading the blind. The company is losing money and I would be very surprised if it is still trading in two years time. Lastly the positive reviews about working for OSR have been left by employees because they have been asked to do so. Go onto LinkedIn and search for OSR, look how many people have worked for this company and have now left.

Pros

Good commission structure Good team Directors who are willing to invest, move things forwards, and embrace change. If you prove your worth, and have good ideas, they are likely to listen and make the necessary improvements. Directors are quite flexible with out of work commitments

Cons

Very little experience in the recruiters themselves so the billing per head is very low. Not a problem if you are already a great recruiter who wants a relaxed environment to work in, but if you are looking to get in to recruitment, it might not be the best place to learn. I left because I needed better training. I would happily work there again when more experienced. (If interviewing, ask them about this, as they are moving in the right direction and this may not be true anymore). Directors don't have any real recruitment experience which can lead to some odd and unproductive decisions, and fairly fruitless discussions. When I left it was a bit like the blind leading the blind. In fairness to the directors though, if they had someone who was able to prove themselves and lead the way, they would follow and that problem would be solved. The atmosphere was a bit too relaxed for me, it wasn't a highly motivated workforce.
