Pros

Still some great people, not current leadership

Cons

This organization went through a change in leadership a couple of years ago, when the former CEO left - along with much of his executive team. It has also just gone through a merger with a much smaller organization. The board appointed the founder of that org (then our strategy person) as Interim CEO, but never did any other type of recruitment before making him permanent (I guess that’s what happens when one of your BFFs is on the board). This current CEO immediately laid off two-thirds of the staff citing financial woes and shut down a major product (one that generated a reserve that we’ve been surviving on), invested entirely in a smaller product that generated mostly foundation funding (which no surprise he founded), and then renamed the entire company to his organization’s name. Even though it took a major lift from our IT team, etc. he said it was necessary for funding. Fast forward to today, we are now hearing that no major funders have come in, we will run out of money (our reserves from the 1st product), and more lay offs are coming. Ironically, HR did a whole salary compensation ‘study’ last year - where it was revealed most of the exec team made over 200K and the CEO more than double that. Yes, we are a nonprofit. He continues to blame the former leadership for the fundraising woes but doesn’t take responsibility for not being a good fundraiser (see earlier review). Also - he was on the same exec team people keep blaming but never took blame for anything that happened. Just continued to point fingers and lead us to this point. So disappointing.

Pros

great people, if you exclude leadership

Cons

Following up on a previous review with new info. On recent 990 (2023), CEO salary was $424,255 in 2022 (thank you Candid.). Sickening as this was the year the company did major layoffs, citing financial distress. Yet, new CEO doubled their salary?!
