Pros

Ontra holds a strong position in the contracts market. It has also at times benefitted from a number of capable and collaborative employees.

Cons

1. Culture and morale: While Ontra presents itself as open and friendly, its internal culture often transpires to be insincere and, at times, toxic. Though the company invests in in-person gatherings intended to foster connections, such events instead reinforce a culture marked by judgement and inconsistent expectations. Trust internally is very low and morale has been in steady decline over the past several years, in part due to multiple rounds of redundancies which were poorly handled by leadership / HR with minimal transparency. Although the company projects strong growth, high employee turnover is a persistent issue. 2. Product credibility: The technology offering - particularly its claimed AI capabilities - is extremely overstated. In reality, many of the functions attributed to “proprietary technology” are handled manually by external contractors or non-legal administrators. 3. Progression: While leadership espouses a merit-based approach, promotions are typically arbitrary and individuals without the necessary skills or experience are often elevated to management roles.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective on your experience at Ontra. We appreciate you mentioning our strong position in the market and the contributions of our exceptional employees. We are disappointed to hear that your experiences at in-person events and with progression didn’t align with the collaborative environment we are cultivating. We remain committed to fostering a culture of trust and transparency and 93% of our employees participated in our Engagement Survey and the results reinforce that moral is at an all time high, with an eNPS of 46 and overall favorability of 84%- it is clear that the vast majority of our employees are proud to work at Ontra. We are also extremely transparent in our product offering and how we market our AI and human-in-the-loop solutions, but we thank you for your feedback . If you would like to provide any additional feedback about your experience, please contact your former People Business Partner.

Pros

Has the best customers in PE. Great place to work; plenty of opportunities for someone who is willing to work hard and be flexible.

Cons

No unique “cons” here — like any company, there are ups and downs, but we try to be as employee friendly as possible.

We appreciate you sharing your perspective. Our customers represent some of the best in private equity, and we're proud of the work that goes into serving them. That work takes people who bring ambition and flexibility, and we're committed to building an environment where both have room to grow. Thank you for being part of Ontra.

Pros

Some of the best, most passionate people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The majority of ICs and mid/senior management truly understand the work and aren't afraid to dig in. Above average comp and benefits.

Cons

Direction often feels unclear. Teams are occasionally assigned 10,000-foot-view OKRs without clearly defined success metrics, and are expected to scope and build solutions that are sometimes completed on the engineering side, only for the underlying problem to be deprioritized before the work reaches customers. "Hackathon" projects are at times pushed into production quickly, introducing friction and contributing to technical debt. The organization is leaning heavily into speed and AI adoption as a way to move forward and using metrics like PR count and token spend to gauge performance. At the same time, the company has seen a number of highly impactful employees leave or be laid off, which can make continuity and execution more difficult.

We want Ontra to be a place people are proud to be part of, and hearing that the people and benefits here stand out means a lot to us. We also take it seriously when other parts of the employee experience start to feel different. Ontra is always improving how we operate, prioritize work, and support teams through change. We recognize the importance of clear goals and well-defined measures of success, especially as we move quickly and continue incorporating AI more deeply into our workflows. We also recognize the impact that organizational change can have on morale, particularly when priorities and goals are evolving. Part of how we work through that is a genuine commitment to communicate openly, even when things are moving fast. We encourage you to speak with your People Business Partner so we can keep growing in the right direction.
