Pros

Meaningful work, the CEO's direction for the company and follow through are inspirational, office culture is friendly and fun to be around.

Cons

Pay is low leading to very low morale, no extra pay for (frequently assigned) overnight work, health insurance minimal. Huge disconnect between SF and PDX employees on pay and attitude.

Pros

Learning a lot about a growing market as it's evolving, and being in control of your own growth within the Operator network. Being exposed to thought leadership, being involved in fun experiments at every step of the process. Your views and impressions matter to everyone, and there's a relaxed sense of authority. Everyone is creative. Personal/skill development and excellence is truly valued by leadership. Leadership is not so abstract, not clearly structured (if you appreciate that, I do) and leadership is encouraged. It's very much about what value can you add in the present moment. It's a big game of discovery, from the operators researching the requests that come in, to the developers trying to get more people to discover the app for the fist time. You're expected to be a leader. Your life-hacking skills will have to step up their game. You'll have to learn to crunch... everything. It's a lot of fun, and also: it wasn't difficult to file a claim for unemployment insurance when I was laid off.

Cons

If you don't shamelessly self-promote your work, you might not get the attention you deserve. When your contributions and the overall leanness of the business is up for review - you risk appearing unfit.
