Pros

Experience. Although cases can stagnate.

Cons

Where do I start: -High turnover -hire/fire policy in response to market demands -opaque decisions from upper management -hostility to junior staff from upper management -scandalously low pay -probationary periods used and abused for temporary deployments in response to increased workloads. -high expectations, without reimbursement -discipline in the form of threatening unemployment. -performance benchmarks purposely tailored to be unobtainable for paralegals for sacking ammunition later down the line. -virtually non-existent HR -bullying and toxicity amongst staff. -paralegals do solicitors work, without being reimbursed. -lack of effective leadership. -purposely unclear progression system. - be prepared for many staff breakdowns- senior and junior. Although they would likely challenge every single unfair dismissal claim, many many paralegals have went through the ever revolving door of oracle and not many have survived the long haul. Those who have…. Are still paralegals. Dinosaur Firms like these need to be called out, their behaviour should not be allowed to exist in the current highly skilled graduate market. Do not work here.

Pros

None I can think of

Cons

Bad management, constantly being watched and tracked. Told that every minute you have to be working or you’ll be asked why you weren’t. Dodgy management/firm.

Pros

Nice offices in a desirable central location. Exposure to a variety of legal areas and case types. Opportunities to take on responsibility early in your career.

Cons

Leadership often feels disconnected from staff the CEO rarely engages with employees and appears unaware of team morale. Frequent talks about “culture,” but actions don’t reflect inclusivity or fairness. Hardworking employees are often overlooked for promotion while a select few are consistently favoured. Management behaviour can be undermining and at times bullying, leading to low morale. Lack of consistent direction and cohesion at senior levels creates a sense of instability and confusion among staff.
