Pros
Hands down the best sales experience I have gained. There are so many departments and so many products that you learn to wear many hats. At the OCR, the employees are like family, especially for the old timers that have been there for years and remember the glory days when newsprint was a respected advertising business.
Cons
OCR is on its way out - slow death of a dinosaur. OCR is a shell of what it use to be back in the day. Newsprint in general has been plagued with layoffs furlows, and cut hours. Sales Reps are taking on more responsibilities that would have been for an ADMIN. The new owners who came in 2012 attempted to create more products, more content to get more readers. But unfortunately, it became a zoo with new owners who seemed to suffer from A.D.D.. Personally, if you need a job, then it might be a good start for a sales career. However, I would not stay for long because OCR is just not what it was.
