Pros
Learn a lot about wildlife and insects, somewhat useful on a daily basis. My co-workers are competent, friendly, and experienced always willing to help if they can. Pretty nice 9ish to 5ish job with a company vehicle that can be used to and from work, which really actually helped me and my wife when we were in a bit of a bind. If you get the right route and manager the whole thing works out really well. When things are good they are really good...
Cons
...but when they're bad, it's awful. For the first 8 months IF our branch manager ever talked to us it was impossible to understand what he was saying, and what was understood was mostly irrelevant. To cut costs they consolidated the Termite side with the Pest Control side and left the responsibility of both to one manager where it was two previously, so he was relatively out of touch but understandably so. Cost is number one, training is iffy at best, they WILL overload your route with as much to do as possible regardless of your opinion, ideas or quality of completed work (signing the work order=good enough, hoping the customer doesn't call back, also known as "spray n' pray"). The bottom line is: I would not personally request Orkin pest control to do any work on my home simply because I know now how their business works.
