Pros

Biggest pest control company in US. Highest industry standards and professionalism. Over 100 years old. Technology leader. Provides company car for residential sales force, and car expenses for commercial sales. Offers a base salary which declines as commissions improve. They claim to have the best training in the industry. They might. It's good but could be improved a lot more than they think. Training for sales people and technicians is ongoing forever which is good.

Cons

Mostly regarding SALES: It is a micro managed small company that became the largest in the industry. It thinks it's a large company, but in many ways is managed like a small company that grew large. Some outdated computer and training technology. Sales force is managed by a branch manager, not a sales manager. Big difference. Huge number of bugs and critters to learn about. Busy season is shorter in more northern states, in many states it can be a half year or less. This leaves a significantly reduced earnings potential in the slow season. This is inherent in the industry, not the company. High pressure from management to upsell. So with training they give a shotgun approach to learning a little about everything. But they don't train you intensively to be good or knowledgeable about any one thing first that will make the most money. No emphasis to build a relationship with clients and save some of the upselling for later. Relatively middle or below earnings potential for a full time outside salesperson. But a good career-minded person can make a respectable living. It is a D2C business. Can require evening and weekend time in busy season. Maybe lots. Better earnings potential in places with more bugs and critters with a longer busy season. Benefits package is below average.

Pros

Good pay, opportunities for sales depending on region

Cons

Orkin cares more about quantity over quality. If you care about doing a good job, don't work here. They will load your day up with tons of jobs and not enough time to do them (or do a good job anyways.) Management lives in their own bubble, and communicates poorly. I transfered to a new region and all services were a mess. Customers who have had Orkin for a year plus had homes still infested with pests. Prior techs hadn't cleaned any cobwebs, never cleaned webbing off siding or eaves. It was embarrassing. Commercial services weren't any better. I believe prior techs were just scanning stations and leaving. Orkin only cares if you punch through reports and collect money. If you also bring up customers that are being overcharged, management will never fix that either. Benefits also weren't great and quite expensive. Manager would also use slurs like the R-word despite knowing I had an autistic child. Just a gross place with gross values.
