Pros

- Excellent individual contributor commission structure - Career growth opportunities - Unrivaled PTO - If you're resourceful, some of the best recruiters I've ever worked with work here and are always happy to help/advise/support - A majority of work was from repeat clients because of the high level of service - Offices furnished with pool tables, TVs, full kitchen, free groceries - NOT a hire and fire culture at all! During covid ZERO people were laid off - Regular incentives for trips abroad (I went on three in one year!) - "Special treatment", time and patience given to those who have the right attitude and work ethic - The CEO supported me throughout my 7 years with this company. "Favoritism" was often associated with those who had the right attitude and work ethic - Working at Oscar enabled me to buy my first home, a couple of nice cars, and take care of my family financially - No bridges burned, no fallout when I left - and I was treated with fairness and respect

Cons

- Like any sales role, if you're underperforming, you will be under pressure and eventually let go if performance doesn't improve - The post-covid tech market boomed like nothing I've seen before. Junior recruiters who joined around this time were not necessarily set up for success in a "normal" market yet like most sales businesses, it took a while for monthly targets to reflect a more normalized market - As the business experienced exponential growth, processes, procedures and structure had to mature - which does take time and was great when I left - Social events could go into the early hours which isn't for everyone - especially me! Although I was never pressurized into staying out late or lambasted for not having done so!

Useful training program and intro into the recruitment industry and supportive teammates

Cons

We all know recruitment is a challenging industry (“champagne and razor blades”), but the culture here makes it significantly harder to succeed. The leadership frequently talks about accountability and avoiding perfectionism, but in practice expectations feel unrealistic and mistakes are heavily scrutinized. The environment is highly micromanaged, which makes it difficult for recruiters to develop their own approach or feel trusted in their role. Support and expectations are also inconsistent. Some teams receive more resources and guidance, while others are expected to achieve similar results without the same level of support. Feedback tends to focus on not doing enough rather than recognizing the work being put in, which became discouraging
