Pros
At one time the school had so much potential with many very talented teachers flocking to the school and early families/students embracing the concept behind the startup. There were many risk takers in those early groups providing an energized and compelling environment.
Cons
Like many startups the school peaked early as the early energy outlined above left with those founding faculty and students. School is on a serious slide primarily because of a lack of understanding by leadership of what made the school special. This is demonstrated by annual falling enrollment, a devolution of the curriculum and lowering standards for students. Funding is becoming more and more constrained without a focus on development and building the endowment along with the founder losing his appetite for funding the school at the levels needed to keep the doors open. The latest attempt to stop the bleeding has focused on reducing financial aid for students and eliminating staff. Appears to make sense given the enrollment has dropped more that 25% in the past two years but hey are also reducing revenue and possibly impacting the status of the tax-free bond used to fund buying the property. School is on very shaky ground.
